iBET ETF Insights: The NFL has just announced a new partnership with Google for what may be the largest deal in NFL history. The multi-year agreement made between the two will allow Google to use its YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels to exclusively distribute NFL Sunday Ticket. The deal comes in an effort to make Sunday football more accessible to wider audience as up until now DirectTV has been the sole sponsor of the NFL’s staple Sunday Ticket package. A quote from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell states, “We’re excited to bring NFL Sunday Ticket to Youtube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels and usher in a new era of how fans across the United States watch and follow the NFL… For a number of years we have been focused on increased digital distribution of our games and this partnership is yet another example of us looking towards and building the next generation of NFL fans.” YouTube has always been a good stream of viewership for the NFL as many users watch live games and highlights as well as keeping up with their team. The plan will go into effect at the start of the 2023 NFL season and plans to show all out-of-market Sunday games during the regular season.
